The marketplace is overcrowded and the library is not.
Centuries ago (it seems), a teacher told me that the only way to survive as a poet was to buy 1 book of poetry every week.  He was right on so many levels -- you must consume more of it than you produce (or &#039;market&#039;); the reading and pleasure of it must always be your own daily bread; and, silly writer, if you aren&#039;t reading other poets, who the heck do you think will read your work?</description>
