Indeed - but only because at most mags there's a backdoor straight to the editor for well-known writers, while all the riff-raff get interrogated in the anteroom by a team of interns. Is it slush still, without a backdoor? I've never figured that out.

Tim, Thanks for defending the "slush". Is that how most editors refer to submissions?

Not eew -- exciting! We love the new apartment, and the contest is the most tiring part of the year, but also the most fun.

Reading contest slush and moving? eww. Thanks for the info on two journals new to me who is always woefully behind in reading. I'm going to scope/research them right now, as we're revamping Rose & Thorn.

Nice review, by the way.
