Timothy Green is editor of Rattle magazine, host of the weekly Rattlecast, and co-host of The Poetry Space_. His radio programming regularly appears on KPFK-Los Angeles and his articles on poetry in the Press-Enterprise newspaper.
Timothy was born in Western New York in 1980. A Rush Rhees and Take Five Scholar at the University of Rochester, he studied English, biochemistry, psychology, and eastern philosophy, and worked as a technician in a molecular biology lab, supporting research on mRNA binding structures. He graduated magna cum laude in 2003, earning awards from Phi Beta Kappa, the Golden Key National Honors Society, and the Academy of American Poets.
For two years Green remained in Rochester, working as a group home counselor for adults with schizophrenia.
In 2004, he moved to Southern California to become assistant editor and then editor of Rattle, now one of the widest-circulating poetry magazines in the world.
American Fractal, Timothy Green’s first book-length collection of poetry, was published by Red Hen Press in 2009. An earlier version of American Fractal won the Phi Kappa Phi Award from the University of Southern California, from which he graduated with a Masters in Professional Writing in 2009.
